Girls Rule! Etiquette Imperative Program Selected by
Bud Bulliken and Chicago Defender Committee Again.

The Etiquette Imperative and it's teen and 'tween peer mentors are honored to have been selected to provide etiquette coaching to the 2010 Bud Billiken Royal Court.  The Program was selected for it's expertise in and commitment to provide social, communication, grooming, personal style and other valuable life skills to youth residing in urban communities.  Ladon Brumfield, Girls Rule! Director and Founder and teen and 'tween peer mentors, Miora and Ariel provided dining etiquette, presentation, verbal and non verbal communication coaching to the Royal Court and prepared them to participate in media interviews and dinner with the Mayor of Chicago and other dignitaries and celebrities.

On a recent afternoon, a group of young girls sat in the library of Hinton Elementary School in the Englewood neighborhood holding beautifully designed paper dolls that the girls had just fashioned out of plain white paper.

The fifth-, sixth- and seventh-graders were listening intently as Ladon Brumfield, 38, read a story about a little girl whose self-esteem constantly was under assault. Each time the character was insulted or belittled, the girls were instructed to rip strips of paper from their dolls.

When Brumfield finished the story, she asked the girls to piece the dolls back together. The moral of the exercise was that although words can leave scars, the girls can rise above adversity. >>more<<

Peer Mentors Provide Etiquette Coaching to Bud Billiken Royal

July was a busy month for Girls Rule! The young ladies of Girls Rule! organized and delivered their own open house event, planned their first Bringin’ Books Back book club meeting and are currently organizing their end of summer bake sale fundraiser.














communication etiquette, appropriate casual and formal attire/personal style selections, self-love and esteem, and chivalry and poise and grace, just to name a few. Ariel and Miora, both graduates of the Girls Rule! Etiquette Imperative, took this unique mentoring and training opportunity to utilize their finely honed etiquette knowledge, leadership and public speaking skills. They did an outstanding job! As a result of their contributions, the Girls Rule! Etiquette Imperative Program was lifted up before Mayor Richard Daley and other dignitaries for equipping the Court to successfully navigate a variety of unique social, dining and public speaking situations.

Girls Rule! has also been asked to partner with the Bud Billiken event committee again next year!

The Etiquette Imperative Collaborates with Bud Billiken

It is our pleasure to announce that The Chicago Defender in partnership with the Bud Billiken Committee has selected The Girls Rule! Etiquette Imperative program to provide etiquette coaching to the 2009 Bud Billiken King, Queen and their court.

The Girls Rule Etiquette Imperative coaching sessions will enhance the confidence, professionalism and esteem of the Bud Billiken King, Queen and court while also providing fun and engaging dining, communication and social grace training.

The Court will be announced on July 17th and enjoy a world-wind of public activities including a formal dinner with Mayor Richard Daley and other dignitaries.


Girls Rule! welcomes Hinton Elementary School to the family!

We are happy to announce that the young ladies of Hinton Elementary School, located in Chicago's Englewood community will join the Girls Rule family beginning Fall 2009!

Hinton's Principal, is extremely excited about the opportunities that the Girls Rule program will provide to young ladies in the 2009/2010 school year and plans to bring another Girls Rule program, Purse-o-nality; Hinton in the 2010/2011 school year.
